Invisible Yellowstone
Segment One from Invisible Yellowstone
Directed, Filmed, Produced, Edited by Katy-Robin Magruder in collaboration with The Thermal Biology Institute
The Thermal Biology Institute, or TBI, is a collection of scientists at Montana State University who study the microbial life that thrives in Yellowstone's bubbling, steaming thermal pools. In collaboration with TBI, Katy Magruder produced, directed, filmed, and edited a high definition 30-minute film, called ‘Invisible Yellowstone. In June 2007, Invisible Yellowstone was awarded two Silver Telly Awards in the Nature/Science Program category. In addition, Invisible Yellowstone was awarded a Merit Award for Scientific Content at the International Wildlife Film Festival and was also awarded ‘Best of Festival’ and ‘Best Long Format Film’ in MSU's Documentary graduate program’s annual Element film festival. In Spring 2007, an 8-minute version of Invisible Yellowstone aired on the National Geographic show called ‘Wild Chronicles’, and right now Katy is brainstorming with National Geographic about an hour long version of her film. Above you can watch segment one of Invisible Yellowstone and below you can watch the Wild Chronicles segment featuring Katy's film. And here is the link to TBI's website tbi.montana.edu
